New Book "Possibilities in Parenting" Challenges Parents to Awaken Their Own Knowing

Most people with children would tell you that parenting is the most difficult job they've ever had. What if it didn't have to be either of those things, difficult or a job? Editor Sadie Lake challenges the parenting status quo, and the authors encourage parents to follow their own knowing in the new book "Possibilities in Parenting" slated for release January 7, 2016 by Happy Publishing.

Spokane, WA -- Most people with children would tell you that parenting is the most difficult job they've ever had. What if it didn't have to be either of those things, difficult or a job? The new book “Possibilities in Parenting” is slated for release January 7, 2016 by Happy Publishing. In the book, each of the 19 authors (Jennifer Chabot, Sadie Lake, Jennifer Cramer Windsor, Cassy Summers, Heather Nichols MSW, Brendon Watt, Cathleen Connor, Trina Rice OTR/L, MBE, Mary Dravis-Parrish, Dr. Glenna Rice, DPT, Gary Douglas, Fay Thompson, Susan Lazar Hart, Julie Oreson Perkins, Gosia Lorenz, Tanya Graham, Danielle Varanda, Kathy Williams, and Petrina Fava) share their personal revelations and unique awareness that may hold the keys to unlock the secret garden of life as a parent that is easier, more fulfilling, and way more fun than you've ever imagined parenting could be!

Editor Sadie Lake, a mom of three young children from Spokane, Washington, asks “Have you ever noticed that a huge part of what makes parenting seem difficult is the avalanche of judgment we pile upon ourselves to determine if we're getting parenting right?” Lake questions this. “What if you no longer had to measure your parenting against what the studies say, what all the experts in the books say, or even what your own parents or in-laws say? What would you do different, starting today?”

"Parenting is not about ownership and control. The truth is that parents aren't in control. It's actually the other way around."

Gary Douglas, Author, "Conscious Parenting"

The new book “Possibilites in Parenting” suggests that parents, instead of using other people's points of view as the barometer for success or failure, might consult their own families to determine what, if anything, needs to change.

Contributing authors include Gary Douglas, the founder of Access Consciousness®. In his chapter, “Conscious Parenting,” Douglas writes “Parenting is not about ownership and control. The truth is that parents aren’t in control. It’s actually the other way around.” What if kids were actually in control, of themselves. “What if they choose us, we don’t actually chose them?” asks Douglas. The world changes, looking at choices and questions from a different perspective.

Sadie Lake has compiled a winning series of chapters that challenge the status-quo on parenting in nearly every way. “While it is true that children don't come with a manual, there is no shortage of well-intended information to steer parents in the direction of what the "experts" have decided is best for children,” says Lake. “Remember the days when "Mother's Intuition" was valued above all else? When you are creating your family life, your opinion matters. YOU matter.”

This new book promises to challenge parenting, even parenting adult children. In one chapter, a parent of adult children figures out when it is time for them to move out. And it wasn’t the choice her neighbors and friends suggested. In this modern era, one thing parents are never encouraged to do is consult their own internal compass to determine the path they might like to follow. “Possibilities in Parenting” is about reawakening the awareness many have diminished by making everyone else's points of view more valuable than their own.

This book is not about how to fix what someone has decided you're doing wrong. “On the contrary,” explains Lake, “This books is an invitation to step back into the equation of your life; for you to begin parenting from the choices you have available that would work for YOU.”

The book authors have all contributed audio interviews as gifts for everyone who purchases the book on launch day, January 7, 2016. Then, Gary Douglas, Sadie Lake, Dr. Glenna Rice and some of the other authors will be holding a book signing event on January 15, 2016 in Seattle, WA.
